About Mill City Press

Mill City Press represents a new era of self-publishing. Everything we do is designed to benefit our authors. Many self-publishing companies are focused on how many different ways they can make money from authors. We know that your success is our success, so we make sure our products and services are priced affordably while simultaneously providing the highest value and return for you.

We are the only self-publishing company that doesn't mark up printing costs. You pay what we pay. We also don't take even a penny in royalties. It's your book, it's your money. Any company that marks up printing costs and takes royalties from authors is not focused on your success, only stuffing their pockets with your money.

We are the only self-publishing company with a publishing philosophy. Read our contract. If you don't think it's the most author-friendly one out there, let us know. It was written for us by Mark Levine, the author of The Fine Print of Self-Publishing (which analyzes and ranks the contracts of the major self-publishing companies).

Mill City Press, Inc. is a Minnesota corporation headquartered in Minneapolis. One of the principal investors is Click Industries, Ltd., an e-commerce company that operates more than 30 websites that provide creative individuals (artists, writers, musicians) and small business entrepreneurs with affordable products and services to help with intellectual property rights, the business start-up process, and the protection of business assets.

The Mill City Press Author Liaison Team

Anna Schmeling, Director of Operations

Anna comes to Mill City Press after serving as the Director of Operations for ClickandCopyright.com. Anna developed a management system that allowed ClickandCopyright.com to effectively process thousands of copyright applications for writers, artists, and musicians. Anna has created a similar process at Mill City Press to ensure that each author's book publishing experience runs smoothly.

Anna graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in English Literature and is planning on returning to school to pursue an advanced degree in the same field. She is particularly enraptured with the field of literary criticism.

In addition to all things literary, Anna enjoys piña coladas and getting caught in the rain. Though she's not into yoga, she does have half a brain (bonus points for authors who can identify the singer of this song).

Anna can be reached at anna@millcitypress.net and 612-455-2294, ext 202.

Rosey Cashman, Director of Book Marketing

Rosey joined Mill City Press after working in corporate sales and marketing at Wells Fargo bank. Rosey's extensive marketing knowledge helps our authors find creative, unique and cost-effective ways to market and promote their books.

Rosey's driven work ethic is in part due to her years as a scholarship Division 1 volleyball player at Furman University. She graduated from the prestigious liberal arts university with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

After all her hard work, Rosey finds the best way to unwind is an evening filled with good wine and great company. However, she finds her happy place in high-quality communication and "A-ha" moments. She thinks acronyms are fabulous and she loves to LOL more than anything.

Rosey can be reached at rosey@millcitypress.net and 612-455-2294, ext. 204.

Mark Pitzele, Director of Business Development

Mark brings 15 years of business development experience to Mill City Press. In addition to finding great business partners to provide resources and services for our authors, Mark also runs BookPrintingRevolution.com for us. BookPrintingRevolution.com is like Sam's Club or Costco, but instead of buying 1,000 rolls of paper towels, authors get book printing at below wholesale prices.

Mark is also the father of Molly (10) and Scotty (7). Scotty claims that he has never had a vegetable inside his body. Let's just say Mark is better at business development than he is at getting Scotty to eat veggies.

Mark can be reached at markp@millcitypress.net and 612-455-2294, ext. 205.

Jenni Wheeler, Design and Production Manager

Jenni oversees all of Mill City's cover designers and layout specialists, helping them them bring our authors' visions to life. Armed with a degree in graphic design, Jenni confidently promised us she was the best we could hire. (She applied off a Craigslist ad, so whatever).

Jenni's innate ability to create cover images as though she was channeling the author and her love of typography make her the person you want in charge of your book's production. Can you believe we could find someone who actually loves typography? Who knew?

In addition to loving typography, Jenni enjoys: art, avocados, people watching, and sculpting stuff with tin foil. Favorite musicians include Elliot Smith, Flaming Lips, Tom Petty, and Tommy Tutone.

After viewing their book covers for the first time, many authors call up and sing:

Jenni don't change your number
I need to make you mine
Jenni I've got your number
8 6 7-5 3 0 9 (8 6 7-5 3 0 9)

Jenni can be reached at 612-455-2294, ext. 208, or jenni@millcitypress.net

Chelsea Brennan, Director of Publicity

Chelsea returned to her birthplace of Minneapolis, MN, after spending years in New York City as a publicist at Miramax Books and Weinstein Books.

Chelsea worked on publicity campaigns for such notable authors as Rudy Giuliani (New York Times Bestseller Leadership), Macaulay Culkin, Karenna Gore Schiff, Chris Elliott, Padma Lakshmi, Robin Givens, and Plum Sykes (New York Times Bestseller The Debutante Divorcee). In addition to the major attention received for the New York Times Bestsellers Chelsea has worked on, she has also gained media coverage for authors in such national locations as: New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Newsweek, Entertainment Weekly, People, Star, Outside, The Today Show, Oprah, Good Morning America, E! Network, CNN, National Public Radio, XM and Sirius radio shows.

At Mill City Press, Chelsea designs full-service publicity campaigns, radio satellite tours, press kits and more, devised specifically for the success of your book.

Chelsea graduated from Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA with a double degree in English Literature and Political Science. She also studied at the University College London. She loves the Black Hills (where she grew up), reading (not surprising), Greek yogurt, wine, classifying music by the time of day it’s best to listen to it, and eating pad thai in sweatpants.

Chelsea can be reached at 612-455-2294, ext. 210 or at chelsea@millcitypress.net .

Michelle Brown, Author Coordinator

Michelle is the most recent addition to the Mill City Press Author Liaison team, and was brought on to help navigate our authors through the sometimes overwhelming process of self publishing. She is a graduate of St. Cloud State with a background in marketing and speech communications, and has a myriad background that includes stints in advertising sales, radio promotions and event planning, serving and small business enterprise.

In her free time, Michelle enjoys any and all desserts and carbohydrates, romping with her overly energetic bulldog Gus, and taking vacations to more uncommon destinations such as Indonesia and Ashland, WI. She also has an unnaturally high proclivity towards becoming addicted to any reality show on TV, watching the dreams of every D list celebrity or vapidly attractive person with no specific talent become realized as they humiliate themselves in front of the American public on a weekly basis. She is currently on the lookout for a support group for her addiction to Target as it is like crack to her, and like a true junkie she cannot go more than a few days without her fix by stopping into the mega retailer to browse.

Michelle can be reached at 612-455-2294 ext. 206 or at michelle@millcitypress.net for any author needs, emotional or otherwise.
